How to clean tarnish from a bell

Have you ever received a family heirloom, packed it away and then decided to display it later? Alicia contacted us after she cleaned her father’s Navy bell. “I’ve had the bell in my possession for the last 16 years and this is the first time we’ve polished it in that time. I couldn’t tell you the last time it had been polished prior to my father’s passing. We used Tarn-X® Tarnish Remover to remove all the tarnish and another product to actually polish the bell after the tarnish was removed.” Alicia, with Tarn-X there is no need to keep your heirlooms hidden away. Tarn-X will clean sterling silver, silver plate, platinum, copper, gold and even diamonds.

Prior to using Tarn-X, wash any dirt and grime off of the piece with hot soapy water. Rinse with cold water and wipe dry before using Tarn-X. While wearing rubber gloves, wipe the piece with Tarn-X, rinse and the tarnish will disappear.

For smaller items, dip the item in Tarn-X, rinse and wipe. After using Tarn-X, always remember to rinse immediately with cold water and hand dry with a soft cloth. Never leave Tarn-X on anything longer than two minutes. Silver may discolor if Tarn-X is left on too long. To remove the discoloration, wash the item in 1/2 warm water, 1/2 Tarn-X and two drops of dish soap, rinse with cold clean water and dry the item.
